yea, i know...this likely doesn't look like the typical "movie poster" ...i was really impressed with the entries and i set out to make a very clear and crisp that actually looked like a movie poster! But, it just wasnt in was too much fun to paint and add texture to Depp's face :) I created this to represent his rage and anger. it looks like a good movie, i can't wait to see it!

mixed media - illustrator, 3dsmax, painter and photoshop

HAHAHA LOL I agree with your comment! Excellent brush and paint work!!! :D But not really a "working" movie poster. :P

So, what exactly did you do in Illustrator with this? Just curious.

The colors are nice, but do not match Depp's countenance, and the hard edges on the designs near his face stick out way too much.

I don't really understand why you made the quote such a simple text: so big and obvious, smack dab in the top center; not to mention a few random cursive letters that stand out more than it should considering the subject of this poster.

The Sweeney Todd logo is an obvious eye-sore, was there any way you could have blended it in, or cut off the bottom with black? (Kind of like a widescreen shot.) It would've suited it better.

This piece really isn't that bad, but I don't think it deserved even third place.

I tend to agree with your comment on this piece, but couldn't had said it as perfectly as you did....
although it is definitely art, and is a neat idea...
I tend to feel it really doesn't fit the mood or theme of the posters or movie.

the layer of dark abstract shapes I created in illustrator.

I'm glad that art remains a subjective suject, that way people can choose to like, or in your case dislike, any kind of art they want. I appreciate your opinion of my artwork.

Of course. I certainly mean no offense to this piece, just my honest opinion. Deviantart encourages honest criticism instead of just "it's really good" or "it's really bad". :)

My only critique is the obvious black box around the Sweeny Todd Logo. Was it meant to have it or was it just a minor detail overlooked? I think it would have been better to have made the black box transparent so just the letters shown through on the logo.

Either way, congrats on your win.

While the font at the top could be changed to something more impactful, I believe this is *easily* my favourite of the lot. It really captures the chaos inside of the man's head, and portrayed throughout the movie.
